What the data suggests
The biggest opportunity is not a trick. It is doing the local fundamentals better than nearby practices.
Most practices still have room to improve website visibility
Only 25.4% of the base listings had a website URL before enrichment. That creates a clear opportunity for practices with a fast, credible, well-structured site.
Google reviews are a visible trust battleground
More than 7 in 10 listings had review data, with an average rating of 4.73. Practices need steady, ethical review habits and professional responses.
Local competition is concentrated in major metros
Cape Town, Pretoria, Johannesburg, Sandton and Randburg show dense practice counts, which makes suburb pages and Google Business Profile quality more important.
City pages are not optional for serious local SEO
Patients search by area. A homepage alone cannot cover city, suburb and condition intent well enough in competitive markets.

Practical checklist for practices
- Claim and complete your Google Business Profile with accurate services, hours and photos.
- Build city and suburb relevance into useful pages rather than repeating place names.
- Create pages for high-intent treatments like back pain, sports injuries and post-op rehab.
- Make WhatsApp, click-to-call and booking actions visible on mobile.
- Show practitioner trust signals: real photos, qualifications, HPCSA details and clear service scope.
